Job Summary
The client is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Quality to lead our organization’s quality management strategy and ensure the highest standards of product/service excellence. This role will oversee and elevate the quality standards across their global garment production processes by designing, implementing, and continuously improving quality systems, driving compliance with customer expectations and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will lead a cross-functional quality team, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and foster a culture of excellence across all levels of the organization to minimize defects, reduce waste, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Occasional travel is required, including travel overseas.
Responsibilities
Quality Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute the organization’s long-term quality strategy aligned with business objectives.
Lead the Quality Assurance/Control teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Serve as the primary quality advocate to senior leadership, reporting on performance metrics, risks, and opportunities.
Quality Management Systems (QMS)
Develop and implement a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) aligned with industry standards.
Ensure compliance with global quality regulations, safety standards, and customer- specific requirements.
Process Improvement & Risk Management
Identify gaps in quality processes and lead root-cause analysis (RCA) initiatives to resolve non-conformances.
Implement Lean Six Sigma, CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions), and risk mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Technical and Supply Chain teams to embed quality into product development and production.
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to innovate quality processes.
Production Oversight
Oversee quality control processes across all stages of garment manufacturing, including cutting, sewing, finishing, and packaging.
Partner with suppliers and factories to resolve quality issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
Oversee the quality of outsourced garments and accessories.
Supplier & Customer Quality
Collaborate with sourcing and production teams to qualify new suppliers and improve existing partnerships.
Conduct regular audits of suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure adherence to quality protocols.
Address customer complaints promptly, analyze defect trends, and implement preventive measures.
Present quality performance reports to senior management and key clients.
Extend support to the COO team to manage overseas vendors.
Data-Driven Decision Making
Analyze quality data (e.g., defect rates, audit findings) to identify trends and prioritize improvement initiatives.
Utilize digital tools (e.g., statistical software, ERP/MES systems) to enhance quality monitoring and reporting.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor a team of quality managers, inspectors, and auditors across multiple production sites.
Establish KPIs for the quality team and monitor performance to drive accountability.
Key KPIs
FPY - Enhance First pass yield throughout all manufacturing process
Customer Satisfaction - Improve customer’s AQL pass rate, eliminate callouts, and reduce returns from end consumers.
Drive cost effectiveness - Reduce quality cost including rework cost, inspection cost
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Engineering, Quality Management, or related field; MBA preferred.
Minimum 10+ years in quality management within the garment manufacturing industry, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of QMS standards and regulatory frameworks.
In-depth understanding of garment construction, textiles, and production workflows.
Proficiency in quality control tools (e.g., statistical process control, QC software).
Strong leadership, negotiation, and cross-cultural communication skills.
Analytical mindset with problem-solving agility.
Fluent in English (written and spoken) and Mandarin.
Certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), or Lead Auditor are highly desirable.
